SNC Again Recognized for Outstanding Industrial Security with James S. Cogswell Award

SPARKS, Nev., June 28, 2022 – Global aerospace and defense company Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) has again been recognized for having one of the nation’s top security programs by the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA). SNC’s facilities in both Beavercreek, Ohio, and Hagerstown, Maryland received the James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award this year, marking the sixth time an SNC facility has achieved the rating.

“I am very proud of SNC’s security teams for once again receiving this prestigious award,” said SNC owner and President Eren Ozmen. “Their work in building an exemplary security program highlights SNC’s commitment to supporting and protecting our nation’s explorers and heroes.”

The Cogswell Award is the most prestigious honor the DCSA can bestow on cleared industry members, recognizing the importance of true partnership between industry and government to ensure the protection of classified information, materials and programs. It was awarded to only 26 contractor facilities this year, and of the more than 12,500 cleared contractors in the National Industrial Security Program (NISP), less than 1% are selected annually. SNC is one of only five companies to receive more than one award this year.

"This award represents a years long effort to establish an industry leading security program,” said Robert Daugherty, SNC’s vice president of Security and Safety. “This award is a true testament to not only our top notch security team, but to all employees at our Beavercreek and Hagerstown facilities for integrating security into their day to day security operations.”

The Cogswell Award selection process is rigorous and requires an exemplary security program and a minimum of two consecutive Superior DCSA Review Ratings. Awards were presented at the annual NCMS training seminar on June 22, 2022.

About the James S. Cogswell Award
The Cogswell award was established in 1966 and is named in honor of the late Air Force Col. James S. Cogswell, who was the first chief of the unified office of Industrial Security. Col. Cogswell is responsible for the underlying principle of the Industrial Security Program. That principle is the need for a true partnership between industry and government to ensure the protection of information, materials, and programs.
