Ozmens’ SNC Recognized for Outstanding Industrial Security with James S. Cogswell Award

SPARKS, Nev., June 29, 2021 – Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC), the global aerospace and national security company owned by Eren and Fatih Ozmen, has been recognized for having one of the nation’s top security programs by the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA). SNC’s facilities in both Sparks, Nevada and Folsom, California received the James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award this year, marking the fifth time an SNC facility has achieved the rating.

“I am extremely proud of SNC’s Security teams and their continuous hard work and dedication to our security program,” said SNC owner and President Eren Ozmen. “They are a shining example of SNC’s commitment to supporting and protecting our nation’s explorers and heroes.”

The Cogswell Award is the most prestigious honor the DCSA can bestow on cleared industry members, recognizing the importance of true partnership between industry and government to ensure the protection of classified information, materials and programs. It was awarded to only 40 contractor facilities this year, and of the more than 13,000 cleared contractors in the National Industrial Security Program (NISP), less than 1% are selected annually. SNC is one of only six companies to receive more than one award this year.

"It takes a lot of hard work and dedication from our security teams and company employees to achieve a successful security program of this caliber,” said Robert Daugherty, SNC’s vice president of Security and Safety. “I am so proud our security staff receiving this award and we are honored to continue to provide superior security services not only to SNC, but to our customers and our nation as well.”

The Cogswell Award selection process is rigorous and requires an exemplary security program and a minimum of two consecutive Superior DCSA Review Ratings. Awards were presented at the 57th Annual NCMS Virtual Conference on June 9, 2021.

About the James S. Cogswell Award
The Cogswell award was established in 1966 and is named in honor of the late Air Force Col. James S. Cogswell, who was the first chief of the unified office of Industrial Security. Col. Cogswell is responsible for the underlying principle of the Industrial Security Program. That principle is the need for a true partnership between industry and government to ensure the protection of information, materials, and programs.
