Ozmen’s Sierra Nevada Corporation IAS Business Area Rated Highest for Development Processes

SPARKS, Nev., June 12, 2019 – Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC), owned by CEO Fatih Ozmen and Chairwoman and President Eren Ozmen, today announced that its Intelligence Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR), Aviation and Security (IAS) business area has achieved the highest form of third party validation for its processes for both hardware and software development. The CMMI Institute’s appraisal results follow the Capability Maturity Model Integration or CMMI® as a capability improvement framework providing organizations with the key elements of effective processes that ultimately improve performance.

The latest rating, at CMMI Maturity Level 3, indicates that SNC’s IAS business area’s processes are well characterized and understood, and are described in standards, procedures, tools, and methods. Ultimately the goal of the framework is to increase an organization’s ability to reliably develop products and services in a repeatable fashion with continuous improvement.

“Once again, the hard work and persistence of our IAS team members has paid off not only for the company as a whole but more importantly, for our customers, who benefit from the streamlined processes and effective leadership implemented across SNC day in and day out,” said Ralph Pollitt, SNC IAS senior vice president. “It is this dedication to excellence that has made SNC a leading defense contractor for more than 50 years. Thank you for your commitment to going above and beyond.”

This rating marks the second consecutive CMMI Level 3 appraisal for SNC’s IAS business area, distinguishing it from competitors. SNC’s Integrated Mission Systems (IMS) and Electronic Information Systems (EIS) business areas also are rated as CMMI Level 3. Appraisals are repeated every three years.
