FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sierra Nevada Corporation awarded competitive contracts from NASA’s Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, Cali., in support of the DoD Operationally Responsive Space Office

Sparks, Nevada – November 15, 2010 – Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) announces that  its Space Systems Group, headquartered in Louisville, Colorado, has been awarded two competitive Task Orders under the Department of Defense's Operationally Responsive Space (ORS) office Modular Space Vehicle (MSV) program being managed by NASA Ames Research Center.  One award is for the Innovation, Standards and Architecture task order to support the ORS office located at Kirtland AFB in New Mexico in development of multi-mission modular space vehicles.  This contract is a five-year period of performance, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ), cost-plus fixed-fee contract.  The second award is for the Multi-mission Modular Payload Development task order to provide the payload to be hosted on the first satellite to be built under MSV.  The MSV contract and a Rapid Response Space Works (RRSW) contract, awarded earlier this year, share a maximum value of $500 million.

"We have enjoyed a long collaborative history with ORS, and these awards will enable us to continue to work closely with ORS in development and fielding of flexible, modular space vehicles that will be instrumental in enabling their mission to provide rapid-response, tactical space support to our warfighters" according to John Roth, Vice President of Business Development for Sierra Nevada Space Systems.  In response to ORS requirements, MSV satellites can be called up, built, tested, and deployed in a minimal amount of time, and the modular architecture allows them to support a wide variety of mission scenarios, from spectral and optical imaging, to radar mapping, to tactical communications.   "We look forward to executing this contract and providing the ORS office - and our warfighters - with an exceptional space capability that will ensure their tactical and operational success".
